Here We Go Again (Week 1 – 2)

Every year I have students wanting to jump right in and ignore the fundamentals. Every year, those students do poorly. We will be doing some great and exciting projects this year. The creativity that gets sucked out of you from the never-ending scantrons and standardized tests, will get to be explored in this class. However, to earn the privilege of creative freedom, you must learn the fundamentals.

You need to understand the rules of the class. Of upmost importance is understanding how class participation is graded, “Policies and Expectations – Overview” section of the students page.

You will get started by setting up your accounts to best work in the Mac Lab. You will need to synchronize your color space, create your custom inkjet profile, explore the Illustrator fundamentals, and master the Pen Tool. (credit to Mike Skocko for the CS5 tutorials).

Pen Tool Requirements

You must complete the pen tool basics at least three times. Create a new layer for each attempt and use a different stroke color. Once you have completed the pen tool basics three times, move on to the maze exercise. You will also complete the maze at least three times. ** Very important: The maze must be one continuos line.
