Technical: In this project I used a lot of masks and different blending modes in order to get the textures I needed. I painted some to get the right colors, and I used a lot of adjustment layers.

Artistic: One element of Design I used for this project was texture. I created shinny and smooth surfaces to make glass and I used rough textures to create the liquid in side. One principal of design I used was balance. Both fruits are symmetrical in shape and the shadow and liquid on the ground are symmetrical. These both create balance.

Reflection: I really like how the focus is in the center of the picture. I like that its simple and yet still complex. I think if i had added anything else it would have been to much and it would have crowded it.

Technical: In this project I used several photoshop tools. I used the quick selection tool in order to extract the images I needed. I used the load selection and inverse tools in order to create the glass shells.  I also used different layer blending options and lighting effects as well as the warp and distort tools.

Artistic: One element of design that I used was texture. I changed the texture of the original egg into glass and I also added a raised pattern onto the surface. One principle of design that I used was unity, almost every piece of the poster was taken from the same shape and so it all appears to belong together.

Reflection: I really like how this poster came out. The color scheme and lighting makes it really warm and it just makes me happy. I don’t think that I would change anything if I had to redo this project.

Image sources:

Technical: In this project I used multiple tools. I frequently used the quick selection tool in order to cleanly and quickly extract the images i needed. I used several adjustment layers including photo filter and color balance. I also used render filters to create lens flares. Lastly I used a lot of different blending modes including overlay and soft light.

Artistic: One element of design I used in this project was value. The image relies heavily on the way the light hits the object, and so in order to add a more 3D effect, I went back and added shadow to certain parts of the image. One principal of design I used was dominance. The lightbulb is much bigger than an average lightbulb and so it automatically pulls attention.

Reflection: I like that my project had the purplish hues in it. I think that it really amplifies the light source in and out of the main image. If I had to do this project again I probably would change the image size and resolution.

Quote

“The ultimate freedom for creative groups is the freedom to experiment with new ideas. Some skeptics insist that innovation is expensive. In the long run, innovation is cheap. Mediocrity is expensive—and autonomy can be the antidote.” ~Daniel Pink

To me this quote means that the freedom to experiment and create new ideas ultimately benefits not only a company but also society as a whole. I disagree with the people who say that innovation is expensive, because without innovation nothing would ever be created. When people have the freedom to create something that they want, or something that they love, mediocrity becomes non existent and our world moves forward in leaps and bounds.

Creative Freedom

This semester in the mac lab i’m going to work more with art and less with typography. Im going to try and create original art rather than use other peoples, but i will also use layer masks and blending tools to manipulate images.
