Write Up:

For this project, all I used was photoshop the whole time. First, I found the geisha picture on google, and there was a tutorial on how to make it look like a watercolor painting. I took the background that the tutorial provided me with and then I took a vintage texture paper and placed it on top of the other background so it wouldn’t look so flat. Then I changed the opacity of the vintage texture paper so you could see the 1st background shining through. Then I cropped everything out of the picture except the geisha. I changed the contrast of the geisha so it would stand out more. After, I downloaded a a few brushes from google and changed it up a little in stead of copying the tutorial step by step. I made the top of the project a red color that matches what she is wearing because it looks better than a blue or green color. Then, I took a different brush and different colors that matched the geisha and spatter painted it a little bit. Lastly, I made a few brush strokes where the black is and at the end of her dress so it would look like an actual watercolor painting.

Kat Von D

In this independent project of mine, I went online to find a person with tattoos because I knew it would be a little more challenging with the small details and the shading on the tattoos, so I pen tooled Kat Von D. First, I started with the face, then the hair, and then the tattoos. I wanted to get started with the tattoos right away because I knew that would take the longest. After I finished the tattoos, O moved on the to lips and the eyes. The eyes took a while because there were a lot of eyelashes to be pen tooled. After I finished most of it, I moved on to the shadowing of the face. Finally, I went back on Google to get a background that tied the rest of the project altogether.

A-G Poster Reflection

In this poster that I designed, I started out in Illustrator. First, I used the pen tool to create the yellow and green on the outside edges of the poster. Then, I filled in the middle with a lighter yellow that was closer to white. After, I typed all of the requirements and the title. I changed the fonts so that my poster would not look so plain. Then I searched a quote on google that was inspiring for school. Then I wrote”Make a checklist to see if you have all of the requirements ready for the universities of California.” This made me think of a checklist, so I made a few boxes on the side to make it look like a checklist. Lastly, I took this project into photoshop to add a few brushes.

February

February Reflection

In this calendar that I created in both Illustrator and Photoshop, I started out with Illustrator first so I could start with alignment and typography. First, I typed the “February”, the days of the week, and the numbers. Then I used the pen tool to make the straight lines. After I finished the typography, I exported it into photoshop and then made a pinkish and yellowish contrasting background. Then I went onto google and downloaded a few brushes and used a few of them on my calendar. Also, I searched a bundle of roses on google and then I used the brush tool and made the roses fade away at the end of the picture.

In this project, I used Illustrator and Photoshop. First, I started out in Illustrator and pen tooled the magnifying glass. Then I exported the magnifying glass into photoshop. After, I found a picture of clouds on google and I used it as my background. Then, I found an inspiring quote on google written and spoken by Apple Incorporated. As I was typing the quote in photoshop, I made each line of words a different shade of blue to show the contrast starting from a dark blue and end in a light blue. I did this because blue matches the color of the sky, and it wouldn’t of looked good with orange or pink. Finally, I took the magnifying glass and used the brush tool  on it so it would like the background was part of the magnifying glass. In one of the lines that had the magnifying glass, I made one the of the words bigger in the magnifying glass so it would look more realistic. Lastly, I made the font look like it was flowing with the clouds.

Quote Poster Reflection

In this quote poster that I designed, I used photoshop and illustrator for this project. First, I took a picture of an blank chalkboard from google and used it as the main background of my project. Then, I also took a quote from google, and made the font look like it was written in chalk like you would see on a chalkboard. I knew that my project wasn’t done because it looked very boring with just a quote and a chalkboard as a background. So, I opened up illustrator and created a ruler and then brought it into photoshop. Again, I thought it still looked plain, so I went on google and downloaded a wood texture and pasted it onto the ruler. Then, my project was complete.

Mediocrity is Expensive

“The ultimate freedom for creative groups is the freedom to experiment with new ideas. Some skeptics insist that innovation is expensive. In the long run, innovation is cheap. Mediocrity is expensive—and autonomy can be the antidote.” ~Daniel Pink

What does this quote mean to me? This means to me that everyone should be allowed to experiment with many ideas he or she may have and be creative. There is many ways to show creativity, and everyone expresses it differently. As artists are working or starting a new project, it takes a lot of work, and is also very time consuming. Also, this shows that hard works pays off in the end because the harder you work, the more it will be worth.

Creativity

Throughout this semester, I will show my creative freedom in the Mac Lab by improving my understanding in the Elements and Principles of design. To show my improvement, I would have to work on sizing, textures, balance, repetition, contrast, dominance, and many more. These useful features will show a big improvement in my work because every detail in photoshop and typography makes a huge difference.

Final Reflection

This past semester, my overall experience in multimedia class has been a little challenging, but I am still able to figure it out. I may be the youngest in the class, but there are a few chances that I could stand out on my projects. My favorite thing that I learned this semester was learning how to use photoshop and all of its features to create any projects. My best project was my spiderman illustration because I have already practiced with illustrator before. Since I have already used illustrator before, I have gotten use to the tools. To be honest I think my grade in this class should be a B because I am still in the process of learning how to use all of the tools in photoshop and illustrator. I am happy with the grade I have now because I have tried hard on a few of my projects, and every time I use photoshop or Illustrator, I learn something new.
